Coogee Beach Making Waves

COOGEE BEACH NAMED WA'S BEST FAMILY-FRIENDLY BEACH.

Coogee Beach has kicked sand in the face of its more fancied rivals and been named WA's best family-friendly beach.

Coogee took out the gong at last week's Clean Beaches Award for its visiting facilities and forging links with its indigenous culture.

Premier costal venues Cottesloe, Scarborough and City Beach failed to score.

Cockburn mayor Logan Howlett says the council is committed to providing first-class facilities and access.

"These include easy access to the jetty and beach for people with disabilities and the elderly through the provision of asphalt paths and a concrete ramp; the city recently installed beach access matting for people in a wheelchair to acceses the beach, or prams, for instance, and provides access to beach wheelchairs.

"The city has recently employed a full-time caretaker to assist with maintaining the amenity."

Mr Howlett said establishing the reconciliation action plan meant staff and the wider community could understand more about Cockburn's Aboriginal history.

"The city works with local indigenous community members who host guided walks at Coogee Beach for local residents and community members," he said.

Neighbouring council Melville took out a litter prevention award for efforts at Point Walter.

CIVIL WORKS COMMENCE AT BEACH POINT

Civil works are well underway at one of WA's most alluring new beachside developments, Beach Point at Port Coogee.  With the works expected to complete by 15 August, titles are likely to be ready for issue by the middle of September.

Port Coogee is a world-class marina and residential estate offering a premium costal lifestyle.  By basing its blueprint on the world's best waterfront neighbourhoods, the developers have had a strong focus on one theme: vibrancy.  The dynamic combination of people living, working and appreciating entertainment in one area will mix to create a vibrant community energy.

Beach Point is a key component of the Port Coogee community.  This 40 lot residential subdivision incorporates a variety of living options, including house & land packages and vacant land lots.  Renowned Collection house & land packages are available at Beachside.  Beach Rise features house & land packages within a secure gated community, one of the few in the Perth metropolitan area.

The proximity of Beach Point to beaches, jetties, and fishing decks makes the location ideal for water recreationalists and those who appreciate stunning Indian Ocean vistas.  The nearby shops, restaurants, and health care facilities encircling the marina will transform the site into the first major coastal hub just 5km south of Fremantle.
